Mend Briggs & Stratton 10.5 Carb Motor

backfiring thru carb on Briggs & stratton 10.5 hp motor?

I have a swisher tow behind with 10.5 I/c motor. Motor will not start. Add gas into spark plug hole and it backfires thru carb.

I have replaced carb as old one had an extreme amount of rust.

Any ideas?
