Do you need a reset code for Samsung TV after installing a main board?

We have a Samsung LN46A550Pfxa 46" tv that had the capacitor issue which we had fixed at no charge by a samsung tech. however, that did not resolve the tv problems and he said the main/video board needed to be replaced. decided to replace it ourselves as we were able to find a board for a lot less than what they wanted. however, i recently read that you need a reset code in order to get the tv to work properly. does anyone know if this is correct and/or if you can reset the tv yourself.
