Code P0683 Vauxhall Astra 1.7 Ecoflex?

I would just like to add an update to previous posts, still driving same car and had re-curring problem of spanner light showing with no loss of power. I now use cataclean and archoil 6400 diesel treatment on an annual basis, both available from amazon or e-bay and these two additives have helped immensely, that said after running the tankful with the archoil the spanner light came on and I had a very uneven surging idle especially when starting from cold. I done a pedal test which showed the same code P0683 but as I have had this before I decided to do some research on you tube and found that this could be due to my MAF sensor being dirty or faulty. I bought a specific MAF sensor cleaner and took the sensor off sprayed with the cleaner and replaced, (after letting it air dry) car still showing P0683 which means glow plug,general fault so a little more research and I decided to just make sure all glow plug connections were secure by gently pushing on each of them in turn. Amazingly this has made spanner light go out. That was 2 weeks ago and the car is driving totally different, even my 12 year old son noticed the difference. The car is driving faster and the fuel consumption is noticeably better. car now showing no codes, so between using archoil, cleaning MAF sensor and just checking the connections seems to have solved the problem, quite pleased as my total spend was about £30 for the additives, far better than going to a garage as they would probably have emptied my wallet !!! Had same problem on my Zafira ECOFlex. New glow plugs fitted and problem solved

Car now appears fine, light not coming on anymore since having the genuine vauxhall glowplugs fitted. Posting this to inform anyone else who is having similar problem. Very important that original vauxhall glowplugs are fitted and also that the resistance is correct so it is important that you are specific when ordering/the garage is specific when ordering (also about the engine) so that the right ones can be dispatched.

Thanks for your input, Car has been to autoelectrician who says all is well apart from glow plugs showing the wrong resistance. He consulted with the garage who fitted and found out they were non-vauxhall glow plugs. The garage have now agreed to source & fit the genuine vauxhall plugs free(well not really). Hope this helps anyone with same problem. I will put up the result as a last post concerning this.

Got car back today, done an interim service but the spanner light/ P0683 code still showing. Gonna take to auto electrician as the guys who fitted new plugs and module are more of a servicing/tyres/brakes outfit. I have had another tech look & test work done and he says its sound. Car driving well. Light tends to come on in mornings/first run. If car is warm
light goes out as it should......any thoughts?????

code p0683 does relate to glow plugs and would get each plug tested,some plugs nowadays operate on 4-5v so it is important each one is tested with an ohmmeter,it isn`t unfeasible one of your new plugs is at fault
