cctv monitor/tv ?

Hi since this is related to security systems i thought i would opt for here.
The problem iam having is with my Haier CCTV monitor model #LT24M3.
We had to have the power off for electrical repairs but when the repairs were completed the monitor seems to have developed a fault,as follows.
When the monitor is powered up the blue led flashes for unto 10 mins before the set actually turns on,also when screen does appear it has horizontal green pin stripe lines running through the picture displayed.
I think this is linked to the fault as i have tried the set using various sources and the pic is still the same.
I have had the back off the monitor and checked for any loose cables or any burnt components but all seems fine.
That's the state of play so far,so i was wondering if anyone can give me info/advice which could lead to repairing the set myself.

True what you say gts,but you defo not lazy mate,its just that I have lots of free time now I've retired to tinker with things I've never understood,or had the time to learn about before.

I know all there is to know about CRT monitors etc but these new flat screen jobbies are something else,but I'm learning lol.

My next daft investment is in a SMT reflow oven,that should bode well with her indoors :D.

brill e manno I just don't think its worth the time to repair these things when you can buy a new monitor for around £60.-70 from cpc but hope the guy gets it sorted with your good advice ,spending time with a scope finding faults not for me any more mate (maby am getting lazy ) :-)

Forgot to add,looking at the board again, I'd also replace the Ams 117 voltage regulator too for good measure.

Don't forget to check the voltage rails and adjust accordingly.

The test locations and voltages are clearly marked on the board,use the chassis for the ground probe if you meter/fluke is ideal,or by new board from the site I mentioned below,around 30 quid ain't bad.

They are cheap gts but on that model the psu looses the 5v rail due to the caps drying up,it's one fault documented in the service manual.

Vestal psu's used in most brands are well known for their poor JH caps,and are easy to test with meter or scope only three lines of power.

Main or x'y sustain faults are mostly ic driver and fet's related problems or buffers and in most cases it's better to change the board out because I agree with you about the domino affect.

But saying that mate most sets these days have over voltage/short protection circuits that shuts the sets down,so none of the other boards are damaged.

A psu or main board are only about 30 quid each for this chaps monitor,so it's a cost effective repair but he will have to set the voltages to the correct specs,but it's voltage potentiometers and voltage for the rails are clearly marked on the board.

I use this site because I buy big screen panels from eBay and repair them,nowt to do now at my age plus it keeps me occupied :).

brill e manno,i don't bother fixing monitors any more coz there cheap these days,also something causes the caps to blow,and you can spend lots of time tracing faults replacing components just to find your buggered anyway,but u gave guy good advice :-)

I can give you link for good rubycon caps if you prefer to replace the caps.

Don't usually give repair tips for LCD or plasma on here due to the dangerous voltages that the caps on the sets can discharge.

Best leave the set powered off for a day before you remove the board.

FIX: Suspect 2200uF 10V and 1000uF 35V caps
Replace the suspect capacitors even if not bulged

your monitor is fried mate but since you can buy a new one from cpc very cheap not worth fixing,google farnell electronics are you using a multi plexer ???
