How can i fix my knitting machine problem?

Hi. I have today set up my knitmaster chunky machine and ribber after 28 yrs of being in the loft. It still looks new. The probem im having is i cant get it to cast on properly with or without the ribber. it knits ok when past the first couple of rows? also i tried to do some pattern but that didn't work at all? I have set it up step by step from the manuals but to no avail. Help i feel like putting it back in the loft! Pamx

Hi Pam,

Don't give up!

As your machine has been in storage for so long, have you checked the needle retaining bars? The foam has probably flattened and that will cause all sorts of problems.

It would be a good idea to give the machine and carriages a really good clean. Having not been used for so long, the old oil and grease will have solidified and will need removing and replacing. Once new oil has been applied, things should start to improve.

Hope this helps get you started.

Kind regards,

Sue
