smeg dishwasher stops mid-cycle?

My Smeg dishwasher DF410SF, stops mid-cycle and the information display, (that indicates the time left to complete the programe), stops flashing. (which is what happens when it is paused mid-cycle).

When I press the start/stop button to un-pause it, the time remianing flashes for a short while before three lines appear in the information display and the time left reverts back to non-flashing (paused) mode.

Any kind expert know what this is all about?
