Mend Zanussi DX 6452 Heating Repair Problem

Zanussi Dishwasher DX 6452 not heating?

As Robb and Julian have done the repair I think I will have a go to solve the same problem. The same fault occurred in March last year and was repaired by a repair man using the same method. My only query is what size of wire would you use to bridge the fault so as to not cause a burn out in some other section. By the way would you expect the repair to last longer the 16 months?
