Gts or e manno?

Hi guys, sorry to appear rude, but I wonder if you guys can help me, I hear you guys are gods when it comes to alarm systems. I have a scantronic 9600 which works great and still going strong. However I currently have an elmdene 16 ohm speaker which is quite loud but just not quite loud enough,I would like to make it a bit louder. So on reading the manual it says the panel can drive two 16 ohm speakers in parallel.

So I was wondering, If I was to replace the 16 ohm I have currently and buy an elmdene 8 ohm speaker will I get a louder alarm volume? or will it not make a difference? Thanks

Its probably very simple but I would appreciate your expert knowledge and advice, thanks and merry christmas to you both. :)

if the panel can drive two 16ohm speakers in parallel, then it should be able to drive an 8 ohm without a problem. you may get a 3db increase but you will barely notice it.

Stick to two 16 ohm's mate placed as far apart from each other or if you want loud mate then buy a master blaster :) .

Mains driven with a 12v trigger taken from the 9600....don't get much louder than that :)

I do know - I know about impedance matching - sure I know nothing about alarm systems but this is not an alarm system question.

If you do not match the speaker with the impedance of the output you will attenuate the volume.

If you put in another question I promise not to answer.

In electronics, impedance matching is the practice of designing the input impedance of an electrical load or the output impedance of its corresponding signal source to maximize the power transfer or minimize signal reflection from the load.

Your manual tells you what to do - use a 16 ohm speaker in parallel.

If you use an 8 ohm speaker it will be quieter.

Happy Christmas...
