Canon Carrick Gas Cooker Model CH60GCIW?

I have a Canon Carrick Gas Cooker Model CH60GCIW. When I turn on the bottom oven the ignition lights the gas but the ignition continues to click. Anyone know what might be wrong? Thank you in anticipation of an answer.

I had the exact same problem with my Cannon C60GCIW and can confirm replacing the spark generator fixes the problem. I thought the problem might be with the main oven ignition switch, so replaced that as it's a cheap part and easy to do (remove knobs and front panel). Alas, the problem persisted. The spark generator is fairly easy to swap out if you're competent with DIY and can pull oven forward to access the rear. No need to disconnect appliance from gas supply - which obviously only Gas Safe engineers should do.
Note, I discovered that the main oven would light with no continuous sparking if the top oven was hot and up to temperature. No chance if cold.

Hi Mike,
I'd love to be able to give you a definitive answer to your reply, but I do not have specific experience on your exact model. I fixed another make of cooker with exactly the same problem, where the oven clicked continuously and the rest of the burners did not. I checked that the flame sensor and thermocouples were not out of alignment and also checked for moisture in the circuit and finally resorted to fitting a new spark generator, which did the trick. So, I can confirm that it is possible, albeit on a different brand of cooker.
Something that may be possible, is to trace back the ignition wiring from both ovens to the spark generator and swap these two wires where they connect to the spark generator. If the fault then moves from one oven to the other, then it's almost certainly a partial failure of this generator.
It would be useful, if you find the fault, to reply here with the information for future reference.

Hello Rupert, Thank you for your reply however, would the spark generator be the problem even if the spark generator works correctly on the top oven and the 4 hobs? If so I accept your advice. Kind regards

This would be most likely to be a fault with the spark generator unit. I'd suggest, however, that this would be best replaced by a qualified Gas Safe engineer for safety reasons.
