Mend Murray 1300 Start Change Engine

s1300 wont start?

Have change ignition switch and solenoid but nothing.
Engine wont even turnover.
If i put screwdriver across the solenoid terminals it turns over and starts.
Driving me mad.
any ideas

Yes. With a suitable bulb or a test meter, check you are getting battery volts at each point from the battery to the ignition switch, to he starter solenoid coil. Somewhere there is a break in the circuit. Check any fuses too.
