Mend Roberts Radio Power Station

No volume?

I have a Roberts ecological 4 (RD21) Fm/DAB radio. I have no sound. It has power and the station read out and names of songs scroll across. Up to now I've had a crackley volume control but it's always worked despite this.
Can you give me any clue of how to repair this. I do have some basic repair knowledge.

If the volume control has been very crackly for a while, it might be worth checking if the volume control pot itself has failed. I'd be tempted to set the control to max and pop a temporary link between the wiper and the high volume end and see if that changed owt.
