if its a diesel there are timing pins to put in at certain points 1 in the injection pump pulley 1 in the engine block and 1 on the end of the camshaft! once these pins are in the engine is locked and then its just a case of undoing the tensioner sliding off the old belt and putting the new one on and tensioning it back up! the use of haynes manual was invaluable when i was messing around with diesel engines! i had an escort van tdi that saw off civic typeR's! p.s. its not as hard as you think just need to get those locking pins in! i used drill bits! and remember to take them out before you start it up again!
