No power on my Digimate L-1715?

There is power going in (12v) and there is 5V coming off the linear regulator, but there is no power around the main processor chip. Has anyone seen this problem before?

I have a L-1715. I just quickly checked C15 and C16 on the inverter PCB with my multimetre on resistance test. I didn't unsolder them. Both are 0 ohms (short). The fuse F1 is fine.

How/where can I get a schematic of the main control PCB or order a new one. Pic: http://soj.mesdiscussions.net/soj/Electronique/LCD/reparer-resolu-ecran-sujet_5384_1.htm.
Sorry it's a french site. Use google translate.

I have one of these which has failed, however I have found one of the SM Diodes on the inverter is shorted. I did a search on it and found out it's a 3A, 40V schottky diode, so I have ordered some sortof equivalents (non SMD, will have to bodge them on the surface). Will let you know if it works. My caps appear fine, though I will test them before I fire the thing up.

The power jack on digimate monitors are very poor quality.
I just clean & solder the center pin at the back off the connector.works every time. Have not been able to find part no for the power jack.

I have the same problem.

it started by flickering. slowly it became worse. then it completely died.

is this fixable? is it the backlight inverter pcb the problem? has anyone taken the advice of the techguy?

check closely the physical condition of c15 and c16 on the inverter pcb,if they look discoloured/melted--replace with 0.22uf 100 volt polycarbonate type capacitors.for intermittent power, look closely at power input connector cn5 for signs of overheating/melting--replace with a similiar type connector.no power--check surface mount fast blow 4 amp fuse---if failed, look for problems with backlight inverter pcb--possibly due to c15/c16 failed.

Hi all, I open all my lcd's with an old credit card, just work it around, and the clips will come free and there will be no damage.. Don't use a scewdriver!!
Hope this helps..

A friend of mine gave me his DigiMate Monitor Model L-1715, he was having the same problem. You power up and the screen flickers and goes blank. I managed to get the screen up after pushing on and off for 30 mins. It ran fine and after a couple of hours my 2 year old son turned it off, my heart sank, I pushed the button and it came straight back on, amazing. Now, the next morning I tried and it didnt work. I thought to myself that the only difference is the monitor is cold, I stuck it on top of the radiator for 10 minutes - plugged it back in, works perfect.
Seems that its either a thermal problem or humidity issue with some components. I'd try to give the monitor some dampness protection if I could only get the damn case off :D

Had exactly the same problem with my L-1715, however, it is still under 3 Yr Warranty and Digimate have arranged to pick it up tomorrow. Might be worth giving them a call - 0871 2508000

There are snap fit clips around the casing. The are two more sturdy clips at the top. Three less secure ones on the side and two along the bottom. We accidentally damged ours when opening it but it still clips on fine. It will require a bit of brut force, but i think it can be done without damge.

I have a similar problem. Power worked fine for maybe 6 months and then became unstable. Sometimes power would cut out randomly and would be restored by a bit of jiggling of the power cable into the monitor. Now it has failed entirely and no amount of jiggling fixes it. I have been reading elsewhere and this appears to be a common problem of this and other models produced by Digimate. I suspect something is loose inside, i am trying to work out how to open up the monitor but it's proving difficult.
