Hi,
Before you get into solenoids and stuff, try checking cables and leads. Don't forget that when you start a car it's like a direct short to earth, so if you have a dodgy earth from the starter motor for instance, you will get diddly. Put a meter across your battery too, check that it actually has the power to start the car.
