How can I repair my McCulloch 2816 throttle cable?

The end of my throttle cable has broke off, any suggestions on how to repair it?
I do all of my own repairs just because it gives me satisfaction that I can do it myself.

I rigged a cable on outside of the handle and power head from the trigger to the throttle. It is a thicker cable enclosed in a plastic hose.
