how can i fix hotpoint aquarius 1000 model wm62?

My washing machine stops half way through the cycle. I have changed the brushes so its not that. The dial appears to be slipping and will not click into the spin cycle. It starts off ok but then about 30 minutes into cycle E it stops. I cant then move it on. It just fills with water and floods my kitchen.

My drum fills with water. However, when I close off the hot water valve this does not happen. Could it be a faulty water fill valve? If so, where is this in the machine? And can I change it or would I need to call someone to do it?
