I have a Hoover wind tunnel supreme Model number: U5468900 and the belt broke on it. I am trying to replace it and have been referring to the manual on how to do it and for the life of me cannot figure this out. The pictures in the manual are very vague and I can't even figure out where the belt should go let alone how to put it on there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I held the belt with a pair of needle nose pliers to slide the belt around the end of the metal post

Wow, I'm really glad I read this before attempting. I sliced my finger open trying! It's a lot of muscle. I'm debating going to the ER, if the bleeding stops soon, I won't! Be very careful, it's not easy;. I pulled hard, several times, before it worked.

I'm not sure if this pertains to your specific model, but it's worth a try:

join the club. It is extremely difficult to get the belt placement correct but if you look down towards the left back wheel when the vacuum is upside down, you'll see a metal post. You have to manipulate the belt into that small space and around the post. Then pull it forward and wrap it around the big black wheel. It is about an inch too short but if you really work it and roll the wheel at the same time it will go on.
good luck.
