Why do all the door locks not lock on my Citroen Dispatch van?

Make sure you push the key whilst turning it, I just got my fiat scudo and had same problem with the locks spinning tried the spare key and push while turning and it works every time

found an easy fix. took 30 seconds. the ring on the van which the lock catchs hit a couple times upwards with a hammer. over time i think this moves and doesn't quite move the button enough. hence it beeping on and off. so glad mines fixed.

Does anyone have instructions on how to get the lock barrel out? I have bought replacement locks for my Dispatch but have no idea how to get the old ones out. Complete beginner here so please keep it simple for me! :)

Same problem here. Also like Victor, I recently had a break-in (on the front of my house) but nothing taken. I've since installed a 400 watt security light as a deterrent. You can get a brand new two-lock set from eBay for about £26 including p&p. or a 5 lock set for £75 plus p&p. If I could afford £300+ I would fit slam-plates all round.

Very common problem-only problem I've had with mine 1998 with 100k-locks just spin. Also the handles are brittle and can fall off or crack easily. Last week, just had mine broken into!, the usual trick on these, put a screwdriver down he side and the lock just falls out, 2nd time its happened, terrible problem, luckily, nothing taken on both occasions

just got mine working placed key in lock nothing happened so i put key back in lock in and out and it worked

take out lock barrels and spitt into two then glue the inner and outer barrels together dont get glue on keyway

has anybody removed your cylinders and got into your van. Expert, dispatch and scudo cylinders(pre 2007) can be removed with a thin screwdriver whilst wearing a boxing glove. Not a very good design. There are cylinders on the market which can be purchased and fitted for a cost of approx £300+. For this price you get five new cylinders which, instead of just clipping into place, are bolted instead.

If your cylinders are ok, then why not let Lem locksafe convert them for you and fit them in the same manner as the expensive version.

if your van is suffering from the ''spinning lock problem'', then we can usually cure this as well.

Why not have both problems cured at the same time.

I had the same problem and installed a set of security cylinders from Van-Locked. http://www.van-locked.co.uk/Shop/Products/Security/Hykee-Replacement-Cylinders.html
It solved the problem, cost half the price of dealer quotes and increased security at the same time. There a doddle to fit and took me less than 2 hours for all 5.

hi, i have the same problem with my dispatch ,it is a common fault .a new lock set on e bay is about £100.00 and you have to fit them yourself.i was quoted £400 to have a central locking system with remote control fitted.i find that ridiculous the sets are on e bay for £30.00 but it is a technical job to fit them.for the last few months i have not been able to lock mine at all,so i leave nothing in it. art

Recently purchased Dispatch myself with exact same problem. Only on the 2 front doors. Common problem with dispatches. Dealers will try sell you a full lock set (pricey and time consuming to fit!). It is caused by the tumblers in the lock wearing out with use so that when key is inserted tumblers do not push out far enough to engage lock cylinder and turn it. I am looking at raiding the breakers yard and pulling a few locks off scrap vans and rebuilding the lock, at least on drivers side. Valeo, France, who make the locks may be able to provide new tumblers which I will also try. Depends on how your locksmith skills are fairing. If all else fails either fit an aftermarket remote locking kit with keyfob to unlock or an alarm with keyless locking facility then all can be done at touch of a button. Hope that helps some.

These are well known for this problem. It's due to the key and lock barrels wearing out. The spare key may work better if you have one but the locks will need replacing eventually. A new set including ignition and fuel cap are about £100 from online dealers.

The key will only lock the door if it is correct way up, if you put it in the wrong way the lock will just spins. This sounds like your problem, try revering the key and see what happens.
