I have an Olympus C-200 ZOOM and my PC cannot detect it to transfer pics?

Hi,
I have a new PC, Windows Vista & I've installed Camedia Master onto it, as I did on our old one. That has worked no problem, and now I'm trying to transfer the images from Camera to PC, but it wont work. the PC saying 'unable to detect camera' can anyone help, please?

Hi there,

Just to let you know that I've solved the problem now, many thanks to you for your help. I'm so chuffed I can transfer pictures onto my PC :-)

It turned out I didn't even need Camedia Master! When I plugged the cable into the camera and the PC, a box came up giving me different options and I clicked on transfer pics and that was it! Great results.

Thanks again :-) :-)

It's possible that the differences between the old Windows operating system and Vista have changed the way the software works. Did you have to install other software by Olympus on Windows? Is the Camedia Master s/w for the camera, or it is a general photo capture s/w? It sounds like you are trying to run a program that worked on old Windows on Vista, and the s/w has not been upgraded to Vista yet. Check if the Camedia Master s/w runs on Vista, or if there is a new driver for the camera?

A general card reader should solve your problems - just make sure that the s/w for the reader has a Vista version. Also, you may wish to partition your hard drive, and install your old Windows s/w on it, and run all your non-Vista programs on that part of the hard drive since many programs will not have a Vista version available. If you still have your older PC, put your photos on that, burn a CD, and then move them over.

Good Luck.
