I have the same problem. Stupid Blinking red Light?

I have the same problem. Mine's a 36" Sony Trinitron TV and it just shut off one day while I was watching a movie and it does exactly what your's does...nothing, no sound or picture, just a blinking red light. I called a repair company and he said it could be an electrical problem inside the TV. He said the costs to repair it would be around $75 - $100.
