How to service a Mira 8 Shower?

I want to service my Mira 8 Shower, do I need any special tools? Is it easy to do?

I have fitted a service kit to my Mira 8, but it still drips, any ideas to stop would be great news.

I have recently serviced my Mira 8 shower control, taking care to locate the lug when refitting, and slackening the control as the cover was been tightened but after careful attention I found when turning the supply back on, I couldn't stop the flow.

Just done this and had trouble with fitting the front plate back on, as described by Jermy. Don't panic if you do, try again, it will work. Slacken off spindle a very little each time you tighten face plate.
No mention has been made of the little steel lug that (I guess) locates in a notch top centre of the housing. Don't forget to match these up when pushing the inner workings back in.
If you need to make sure that the hot water control works as before take time to work out which way up to fit the inner workings.

Jermy's instructions are perfect, especially the bit about slackening off the front cover plate. It's not just that the water control knob will become jammed, the cover plate wont tighten any further till you slacken it and twist the control knob. That done the cover plate tightens readily without much exertion. I had to do this slackening off several times.

Jermy, obviously your post is a few years old now so you might not get this. I am looking at servicing my Mira 8 shower it has become quite stiff to turn on and off. would you advise that I would need to purchase the "Service Pack " from this site http://www.shower-spares.co.uk/mira/mira8_diagram.htm or do you think I would need the "Mira 8 Internal Set/Cartridge" as well?

It is quite straight forward. Isolate the water, pull off the temperature control knob, remove cir clip with small screw driver and remove water control knob. I had to use an 1" socket to get the front plate off having to give it a sharp tap to start it off. I replaced the inner workings as the shower is 24y old and was quite worn. You could simply remove inner workings and clean them up but you need a washer kit to replace the washers. I re assembled the shower using the new inner workings replacing the back fiber washer, the front brass thrust washer, the large rubber washer on the front plate and importantly the recessed internal rubber washer on the spindle hole in the front plate. When you put the front plate back make sure the water control knob turns smoothly and is not locked if it is slacken off front plate and then turn water control knob into a different position and then tighten up front plate which should fit snugly into the body. replace water control knob fixing cir clip and then push into place temperature control knob, turn off shower and then turn on water it should all work ok.
