I have a 2003 Ford Transit turbo deisel flashing glow plug warning light?

I have a 2003 Ford Transit van which has done 160,000ks and I have driven it since new. The glow plug warning light flashes intermitently during driving or idleing and the motor drops in performance. I shut the motor down for a couple of minutes and restart and it is gone. The manual says to ease of the load on the motor and if the problem continues consult a ford mechanic. The problem has only occured in last 2,000ks.
My mechanic(not ford trained) has done a diagnostic check but could not pick anything up. When the warning light is not on the motor runs as strong as it was when first bought.

Has anyone got an answer?

I have a 2001 transit t300 2ltr tdi when my cooling fan comes on my glow plug warning light begins to flash if I turn the van off and turn it back on it goes off have tryed a pedal test put no luck any ideas??

i have the same problem. intermittent light coming on and drop in power .... had diagnostics done .... came out with turbo sensor problem .... going to garage to check sensor or wiring...

Hi Phil I have a 2003 Ford Transit Minibus and I have exactly the same problem been told to check wiring or replace glow plugs mine did it to start with three months ago then it was fine until last weekend and it has done it 3 times since. ITS GOING INTO GARAGE FOR WIRING CHECK TOMORROW glow plugs cost 11.99 each plus vat so I may replace them all.

mine does this, never when driving but some times when i start up cold or hot the light flashes and i stop, start up and its gone. It could be sensor problem i have been told, but what i dont know. Also read about a another ford which had same problem and it was to do with the fuel injectors?

Did you get this sorted? I have just bought a transit and I am getting the same fault.

You'll need to get this plugged in at Fords to find out what the fault is.
