On briggs and stratton 9.5 H.P. on a craftsman snow blower?

I have the above 9.5 H.P. engine and this engine does not have a throttle and I would like to know why it does not have a throttle? Will this not do damage to this engine when I stop it running full throttle and it is still drawing gas into the cylinder? Can I purchase the parts and istall a throttle?

Most snowblowers (including my 2006 9.5hp craftsman) run with the throttle open full anyway. There is a govener system on most, if not all, snowblowers that adjust the carburator when the engine is under load to increase the fuel/air mixture. That said, I do like the throttle to slow down when talking to someone.

That's a great question Lorne because I have the exact same situation/question.

I picked the same snowblower up last week at Sears. I never even thought for a second there would be no throttle until
I started it up. I noticed however the upgraded SNOWMAXES with the Briggs and Stratt come with a throttle. On the 9.5hp there's a cover plate where the throttle should go.

I don't have the answers to your question. Hopefully someone answers the post.
