Is it economic to fix my minidisk recorder MZ-N1 stuck in "TOC EDIT"?

I have a Sony 80 MB minidisk recorder - the model with the anodized metal case. It is stuck in TOC EDIT. Can it repaired easily, or inexpensively?

Im guessing its doing the same with all discs? Could be a corrupt Table Of Contents on one particular disc. Otherwise it could be a dying laser or carriage mechanism.

Sufficed to say, if it is the laser or carriage mechanism probably not economical to repair..
