How can I install a bobbine case?

I have a Singer Imperial 7004. I have trouble installing a bobbine case. I have a manuale, but pictures and descriptions are not clear enough. It sais:" Guide forked end of bobbine case under feed. (On the picture it seems like fork end of bobbine case goes under the plate located under the feed, but I can not fit it this way). Draw rim of bobbine case under position plate. Turn level toward you, locking bobbin case in place. Note:After locking case in place, be sure it is not tight, but can move slightly". I am not sure if I install bobbine case incorrectly or is it something wrong with the machine, and it needs a repair. The bobbine case either jumps out of place or does not move, it is impossible to raise a bobbin thread.

Hello, Ken,

Thank you for your answer. I am not used to this procedure, although I have the machine since 1989. Bobbine case was broken a couple of times and replaced by a professional, but now it just got out of place, so I want to attempt to fit it in myself. I'll try to brake my question into smaller ones, so that you will see what it is exactly that I do not know how to do.

Yes, I do have the black one. Can one find another bobbine case, easier to install, to fit Singer Imperial 7004?

I forgot where the forked end of the case sat, when the case was in place. Where should I guide the forked end of bobbine - direct under the feed or under the metal plate under the feed?

Can one find a detailed description with pictures somewhere on the Internet? I'll take my own pictures and send to your e-mail address.

When I´ll know that I fitted the fork correctly, may be I 'll manage to fit the rest.

Happy New Year!

Hello Alla,
You probably have the black plastic bobbin case and unfortunately there is no easy way to explain how to put it in,
make sure the small metal retaining clip is pushed to the left, the metal part of the raceway should fit in the slot on the bobbin case, do it with your left hand it may be easier, when the raceway has fitted into the slot push the metal lever to the right so it goes over the edge of the bobbin case, move the balance wheel towards you to make sure you have fitted it it, if you are new to this type of bobbin case it may take a few attempts but once you get the knack you will be okay.
