If you are wanting to use a Set Top Box with your 37c9 , use a TV aerial patch lead from the STB TV out socket to your TV aerial in socket.

It may or may not be possible depending on your TV.
Some sets switch to AV automatically when the DVD is powered up.
Others have an AV button on the front panel.
With others you can sometimes press CH- until you go below 0 and AV comes up then.
If none of the above help you then you will need the remote.
