Whys the water from showerhead hot and then cold when raised?

I've fixed an "Extendaspray Bath/Shower Mixer" on my bath taps, and unfortunately: When you adjust the hot/cold water taps as desired, holding the showerhead at hand its fine, but as soon as you raise it to wash your hair for eg. the water goes freezing cold, lower it-it's fine again?? I've just moved in and dont know whats wrong? PLEASE PLEASE, I'M DESPERATE FOR ANSWERS AND HELP. THANKS

The only way to solve the problem relatively easily is to change the cold water supply to the shower connection.
seal off the cold supply from the mains and connect the hot water cold supply to the disconnected shower supply.

before you go to the expense check that you are hapy with the amount and pressure supplied when only the hot water is in use with the shower on.

Yes, this means you do not have enough 'head' or hot water, i.e. the tank supplying the hot water cylinder is too low. Raising this would help, but this is probably not practical/possible.

The other solution would be to fit a shower pump.

I think your right, makes more sense now. Thanks for help John.

This probably means that the hot water header tank isn't actually high enough up in the roof space, so you lose the flow pressure when you lift the shower head up.....I think the only way to sort this is to reduce the feed to the cold supply tap using an isolating valve.
