How to change out Ignition Lock Cylinder on 95 Mercury Villager?

I just swapped out my old lock cylinder the other day and the job is a lot easier than I thought. I bought an OEM lock to make sure that it is a perfect fit.

1) disconnect the battery
2) remove the bottom plastic cover on the steering column
3) turn ignition to on
4) push in the retainer pin all the way in. Turn the key further if it does not go all the way in
5) Use a flat screen driver to pry the whole cylinder out. May need t wiggle it a bit. Once again make sure the pin is all the way in.
6) Slide the new cylinder and make the pin locks as you turn the key to off or accessary ppsition
7) Reconnect the battery and you are DONE !

I figured it out. There was a green (cylindrical) retainer ring as well as a mechanical gear that had to be removed. It was a little tricky. Had to use a 'jewlers' screwdriver by inserting it underneath and through the small hole in the bottom of the cylinder lock casing. This small hole (as well as a pin) is used to hold the cylinder lock in place. Was able to pry the green retainer ring up and them remove using a pair of needle-nose plyers. I then removed the mechanical gear with the same needle-nose plyers. At that point, I was able to remove the broken piece that was lodged within. Next I had to reinsert the mechanical gear and green retainer ring making sure to lineup the oblong hole that would receive the end of the cylinder lock. The I was able to insert the cylinder lock successfully. Unfortunately, I had left the battery connected from the day before and the battery was sapped. So after connecting the jumper cables, I was able to successfully start the car with the new cylinder lock.
