how can I get the battery cover off Flymo cordless ct250 strimmer?

Removed 5 self tapping screws and although there are pointers for the cover, it won't budge. Anyone out there with a bit more nouse than me?

I also had a hell of a job to get the battery cover off - used a walpaperscraper, flat screwdriver etc. Having got it off with brute strength more than anything I saw how it's meant to work. Immediately above the arrows(but out of sight and reach) , just below the round nodule, as described above, is a clip, about 2cm wide. You need to slide in something flat but solid and press inwards in order to release the clip. Pressing very firmly on the top arrow whilst sliding downwards may also do the trick.

Remove the phillips screw above the grey battery cover close to the shaft. Cover then rotates away from shaft on lower pivot. A flat bladed screwdriver may assist as a lever, but no force needed. Once cover is lowered it lifts off lower pivot. The battery is a friction fit so will have to be eased out of the casing.

The battery can be easily removed as it has its own cover. Firmly press on the arrows and slide down. Using a flat bladed screwdriver may help in easing the cover off. Don't remove the 5 screws as the press switch and other components will fall out.

I swear this unit was designed not to be taken apart, despite the manual blithely stating you may need to change the battery one day. There are at least 3 clip elements to each half of the cover, and they require moving in opposite directions. The key one seems to be at the top of the font, where the round nodule sticks out. The top part of the cover is clipped behind the lower. Push the lower part back and up while pushing the upper part down and out. With any luck you'll free the two enough to skew one side of the upper cover off entirely. That's when all the innards drop out!

You may need this schematic to put it back together again - I did.

Good luck!
