When CD is inserted into Ford 6000CD radio, it takes a few seconds and then returns the code E12 for 'dirty disc'. Several disc's have been tried, all of which are clean and commercial standard (i.e. not recordable blanks) which work perfectly on audio equipement in the house. Is there any way of tracing or fixing the problem?
Try cleaning the laser lens using a cleaning CD ( available off Ebay) This is a CD with inbuilt bristles that are coated in fluid to "brush clean" the lens. Not a guaranteed cure but worth trying for around a fiver . As you said, the CDs themselves play OK elsewhere so it must be your car player that`s the problem.

Hi tom, in my Ford fault finding guide error code E12 is "communications error" solution replace audio unit!
