My mums overnight storage heater has broke, so she is using the Emersion heater to have a bath or wash up, just wondering does anyone know if we would need a plumber or an electrician or both? Thanks in advance!! X

I have Creda storage heaters throughout the bungalow
and all have worked fine for years .... now one heater has begun to 'stays cold' for about 9 or 10 inches at the bottom - even after being on economy 7 charge all night !! (Alergic to gas, so no gas central heating)

Can anyone offer me any help ? Thanks :o))

Night storage heaters are usually supplied through separate circuits that are operated by a time clock so they only come on overnight. The times being set by the electricity company who will usually supply you with cheaper off peak or night rate electricity. Cheaper at night but slightly more expensive when it switches over to the daytime rate. Some more modern heaters can be used as fan heaters during the day as well.

Two months = 60 nights @ £96 = £1.60 a night. Say electricity at 10p per kW = 16kW per night. Say six hour heating cycle = 2.66kW per hour. Heaters range from about 600W to 3500W or 3.5kW. So your costs look on the low side to me.
