Yeah - and sending it to Sony will cost you £172.20 to repair. It's a fixed price regardless of what's wrong. I got stung like that recently for (apparently) the same problem. Nothing on their website or the paperwork I had told me that until they refused to even look to see what was wrong until I'd paid up!

I now have the camcorder back (it's only 18 months old and just out of warranty) but am trying to find out if the lcd ribbon broke because of an accident or whether it was faulty - if it was an accident I can claim back the cost of the repair from my household insurance, if it was faulty then I can't! I pray it was dropped ...............

It is not something so easy that a diy or even your corner repair shop can do.You need to take it to a Sony camcorder repair shop.Quite tricky job, sorry.
