Product recalls have been made for certain cooker:

There is a problem with it over heating and possibly going a fire. Contact Tricity for more info

I would suspect the control. I have problems with the control on my sovereign. However, I haven't yet worked out how to get at teh control. The knob comes off easily enough and I have undone all the screws from the underneath to get at the controls but nothing moves.
