Error message on DVD Player, 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan?

Our 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan has a factory issue DVD player which has worked fine since we bought the vehicle a couple of months ago. We only used it a couple of times but today - nothing! The CD player and Radio still work fine but when we put it on to the DVD player nothing happens except the word ERROR coming up on the screen - it doesn't say what kind of error.
Any ideas what could have caused this and if we may be able to fix it ourselves, we really can't afford the $200+ the Dodge dealership will charge to send it off and be fixed, and we don't want to continue to the repeated question from our 3 year old of "But why can't I watch a movie?"
