Ford mondeo 6006e,cd fine but no radio ?

The auto cd unit part of my radio/cd player works just fine, but when the radio is selected all you hear is just the usual ether mush, no stations and the auto scan cannot locate any stations either. Had unit out to check for "no aerial" connection at the rear of the unit even plugged a piece of wire in AE socket just to be sure. I only wish that some one knows of this fault or a cicuit diagram as I am a radio repair engineer

I've spend months considering this problem. CD ok but not the radio. Like you I thought at first it was the aerial bit it wasn't. Eventually I had it repaired through a garage. I think it cost me over £150. More than a year later it failed again. There are replacements on ebay, usually from breakers, which seem to go for about £80 (watch out for duds and frauds). I have been looking to replace it with a radio that you can connect an mp3 player to but may end up resorting to a replacement 6006E via ebay. One added complication is I have a hands free in the car and my new phone does not fit the cradle. In this the best of all possible worlds...
