machine cuts out does not start and gives 9 bleeps

what does this indicate
it is a zanussi electrolux 1500 upper cycle

9 bleeps means there is a bad connection between the main pcb and the display user interface.remove the lid and look for a blue loom going from the main pcb to the user interface control panel.clean the connectors and connections on the pcb and user interface and reconnect them.hopefully this will solve your problem
