Mintek 26" LCD HDTV w/ built in dvd player (DTV-265-D)?

Inserted a DVD into the built in player. Now all that happens when the power is turned on (ON THE tv itself) is that the DVD plays. My remote will not power on or off, and no other functions on the remote or the tv respond when pushed. Is the DVD player overriding all other electronics? Are my only options to open up the back of the unit and disconnect the DVD, or to take the beast to the appliance doctor to have emergency surgery? Does anyone have any experience with this issue?

The dvd player on my tv has a hard time reading the disc sometimes, and then when it is playing it will freeze right in the middle of the movie. Is there some type of cleaner I can use for the dvd player?

I had this same problem with my Mintek dtv 265...I had anticipated a problem, as I had bought it used on ebay for $100. After some research, I decided to purchase a new mainboard ($130), which completely fixed the problem!! :-) So I paid less than $250 for an incredible lcd/tv/dvd. If you have some patience, common sense, and a screwdriver, it's an easy fix...and cheaper than paying a technician $35+/hr just to look at it!

the problem is with the motherboard. if you google you model you will see about 1,000 complaints with the same prob. Bas chinese parts. mintek isnt even around anymore. somone bought them..then they went out of biz right after.
