thank you for posting this repair tactic, our samsung oven stopped working 2 days ago with no signs of life, after lots of research I found this site and am I glad I did, I pulled out all 3 temp sensors and put them in the freezer for 30 min's and now it is working like a charm. There was a big HOORAY when the display lit up. We do love this oven, I'm glad it was an easy fix.

well, honestly. who would have believed it? the electrician had just told me the oven was totally broken and needed to be replaced. i said 'let me google it', and got a 'oh for god's sake' kind of expression, but I did it anyway. we did what you said, and to his total amazement, it's worked. what i can't figure out is what made you try that in the first place????? thanks for saving me hundreds!

The fan worked and the light was on but the clock and oven weren't
working. Did exactly as described here. Took off the cover removed the little black thermostat and put it in the freezer for 30 minutes. Hey presto it worked. Magic. And my fiancé thinks I'm

the worlds best handy man. Thanks all.

I did the same freezer trick with the 3 thermostats and then fully re-assembled the oven. Everything working again!

Our oven was completely dead. I followed the instructions here. Slid out oven. Removed the two top cover screws and located the thermal cut-out in the middle of the fan duct. Detached the two connectors and unscrewed and placed the cut-out in the freezer for 30 minutes. Reassembled and the oven works perfectly now. I can't believe how easy this was. Thanks for all your advice.

Many Thanks for this posting. 9 days before Christmas Day and my Samsung BF641FST completely died not even the clock came on. Popped the thermal cutout into the freezer for 20 mins. Jobs a good one, ordered a new one for a spare though. My fault turned it of at the wall when it was still hot. DOH!

Thanks all - mine was doing the same so 'cut out' in the freezer, 30 mins, and job done. Incidentally my oven showed no life whatsoever before the 'repair'. If the part was needed, Grange Electrical in Birkenhead can do one for a fiver !!

Thanks once again

Gutbucket - thank you, worked for us. We kept on turning off oven from main switch as baby kept pressing buttons, caused that cutout.

Just put cutout in freezer for 20 mins, back in oven and all working.

One tip to remember is not to turn the oven off at the wall until the ovens fan has stopped running(this can take a while). This will ensure the oven is able to cool down normally. We made this mistake first time as it was a habit we had with our previous oven.

Update - first try putting the cutout in your freezer for 15 to 20 mins - this reset mine and all is well. Failing that they cost abot £10 from Currys partmaster or buyspares.co.uk. Just search their sites for BF641FST and look at the short list for safety cut out

Definitely the Thermal overload cutout in my case, very simple to replace - its under the top cover (2 screws) and has two wires going into it on push fit connectors (make sure you unplug from mains first!). two screws attach it to the fan ducting housing

Mine has gone the same way - just before the guarantee expires luckily. It is some kind of overheat thermostat safety device that has gone - the engineer temporarily has wired it out of circuit whilst the new part is on order (he says it will be safe in the meantime!). Took him seconds to sort so I suspect it is a very common failure.
Incidentally engineer (not Samsung but sub-contractor) was a miserable old sod - just what you need when you have taken a day off work for the thing to be fixed.
