How do I get feed dogs on Brother NX400 back up?

After the material was stuck in the needle plate of my Brother NX400 I took off the needle plate and cleaned around it. When I put the needle plate back the feed dogs wouldn't come back up even though I moved the switch and turned the hand wheel. How do I get them back up?

I spent about a year trying to fix this same thing on my brother. I just discovered that "pin" that should be in the "well" today. You need only take the throat plate off to get to this. On my machine it is a black pin, that should go in a white well. Look for a black "pin" that is sort of hanging around doing nothing.

attached to the feed dog(underneath) is a pin that should sit in a plastic well, it just needs sitting back in the well.

this is why your feed dog is stuck down.

I've tried to get underneath the teeth, but can't get the side of the machine open. Any suggestions?

Thanks - we'll try that.

Hello Susan,
I have not seen that particular model but if you have moved the switch and the teeth still won't come up then they may be forced in the down position, you need to get underneath the teeth and you will see a screw on the long bar that you can slacken off to raise the teeth.
