hi i have a citreon xsara i only have the key i dont have a fob the key will lock all the doors and unlock the apart from the boot can anyone help

What does the lock act like when you try to unlock it with the key? Does the key turn only one way and not the other, or does it turn both ways with no sign of resistance?
