Mend Murray Help Riding Cut Lawn

need help with my murray lawnmower?

I think I have an electrical short in my Murray riding lawnmower.
I can cut my lawn for about 1/2 hour and shut it off to empty my grass and I can't restart it. I have charged my new battery and retried and it starts but runs very rough, when I shut it off, I get a real loud backfire. I have replaced the starter, air filter, battery, spark plugs and fuel filter. I have just ordered a solenoid.
