Washer will drain, but no spinning?

I have an electrolux (frigidaire) washer, model# GLWS1979AS2, manuf 05/03. A couple of wks ago it stopped spinning all of the water out of the clothes. I just ran spin again and it was fine. Now it won't spin at all, or agitate. It does drain.It has a burnt rubber/electical smell if I try to run the spin cycle now.
