I have a SDMO Alize 2500 Generator with Honda GX160 engine.
I am living in Sudan where I have no access to a decent technician to repair it, so need your help.
When starting the generator the voltage keeps fluctuating a lot (between 190V and 270V), and drops a lot when there is any load on it (even much less than the 2.2 kW it should generate, and as low as 170V and lower). The only way I found to make it work is to keep the choke half-open and try, but even then there are many problems.
Sudan = heat and dust!
Higher temp means lower air density = less power output.
Dust blocks air filters reducing air flowrate. If an engine can't breathe, it can't produce power. Dust also means abrasive particles which cause accelerated wear of components such as piston rings, valve seats etc. Excessive wear of those items means poor sealing of combustion space - lower compression ratio and again - lower power.
