How can I fix my Memorex Portable DVD Player MM-8500?

My Memorex Portable DVD Player MM-8500 is powering up and playing sound but the screen only comes on for less than a second and then goes off. I only used it a couple times. No problem with the sound or any other operation, just screen is black after less than a second.
