Kirby G Six- TechDrive Power Assist N/D Pedal came out?

The Kirby TechDrive Power Assist N/D Pedal came out and I am trying to figure out how to put it back in. there is a shaft that attaches to the N/D pedal that has a spline at the end, and what appears to be another piece (female) that receives the shaft; however, I don't know which way it needs to be positioned on the shaft in order to engage the drive. I was hoping to find a blow up diagram or something but since this is my first attempt at repairing a vacuum I don't have a clue where to begin. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
