Citroën Synergie 1.9 Turbo Diesel has serious clunking tractor noise when accelerator is used. Problem came on quite suddenly. Anyone know what the problem might be or what to check first? Battery, oil and glow plugs ruled out. Starts up OK
bottom pulley on the engine did this on mine thought car was going to blow up with the noise it made lol.

check timing belt and also check that serpentine belt (fan belt) has not stripped off and gone behind timing belt lower cover and made the timing belt slip a tooth
