RCA 32" shut off and won't turn back on?

We bought this TV used, and it worked fine for about 2-3 days. Today, while watching TV, it just shut off and now it won't turn back on. The power light will blink about 8 times before staying lit...but nothing is coming up on the screen. Also, once the power light is on, you can't turn the power off with the button/remote so you have to unplug the tv. Any help would be much appreciated...I would hate to have wasted money on this thing.
