scantronic 9800 battery fault?

Apolgies for not replying sooner, I have been away. Can I thank you all for your valued input. Just to summarise, it is a new battery and I did put the terminals in the right order. When I first put the battery on it lasted about 15/20 minutes before the alarm went off showing BF. When the mains power was off, however, the code said LB so I summised that I had a faulty battery. I swapped the battery and it has stayed silent now for 1.5 hours so fingers crossed!

no should not need to reprogramme, if the battery is good power it battrey then mains. Hope that helps

the new battery,i take it is a new one?has only a float charge when you get it,it can take a few hours to get up to speed,the panel will see it as faulty till it reaches the proper charge,if you have reversed the battery leads,you can kiss the panel bye bye,leave it to charge the battery,then reset it,

Firstly check, you got the battery terminals round the right way, black to black, red to red, You didnt need to turn the mains off, that was a mistake really, i can only imagine you assumed like many the circuit board is AC and you didnt want to get a shock, It is in fact DC, direct current, which is perfectly safe at 13.6 volts, please dont touch the board un-less you really have too, as static in the body dosent do the ICs a lot of good,
The NVM chip does retain memory in total power failure, but with time these do fail.
If the panel accepts your code, you should be ok,
Check the battery terminals and get back to me,
