Mend HP Deskjet 3745 Printer Printing

printer won't work though green light on?

HP Deskjet 3745 green light shows its ready to print but nothing happens at all when I press Ctrl and "P" at the same time. There is a "copy 1" printer in the Control panel but neither seem to respond. I have an Advent 5312 laptop.
What should I do?

Charlie, check the USB cable is connected to the printer and the computer then switch on the printer, you should see an icon in the control panel/printers when it's connected properly.
