Tried to use my KitchenAid double-drawer dishwasher after it sitting idle for a few months. Got error code "LIGHT/CHINA" (translates to "motor failure" in the manual) after trying to start lower drawer and hearing about 30 seconds of clicking sound within the washer and 2 seconds of water running inside. Tried the upper drawer and same thing happened. Unplugged and replugged the machine and got the same result. I just cannot imagine that both motors can fail at the same time. Can it have anything to do with it not being used for a few months? Any idea?
Both Motors are stuck because of the lime/calcium in the water. You have to "unstuck" them and the washer will work fine. You may need to use a solution of vinegar water to dissolve the grime on the motor shaft.
